    Monolith captures the imposing presence of a striking structure amidst the rolling harvest fields near Mevagissey, Cornwall. Bathed in the warmth of a hot summer palette, the painting is alive with golden yellows, earthy ochres, and sun-drenched tones that evoke the essence of the season. Jill’s meticulous application of texture using gesso on the primed board gives depth to the composition, enhancing the interplay between the monolith and its vibrant surroundings.
     
    This mixed-media artwork offers a dynamic contrast between the solid form of the monolith and the softness of the field and sea beyond. Framed in a 6cm wide flat-profile limed wood frame with a slip, the piece measures 75cm x 59cm overall. Monolith is a vivid, textured celebration of the Cornish landscape and its unique ability to blend natural and man-made elements.
