Treginnis, Summer, a pastel and watercolour painting capturing the essence of a bright summer day on the Pembrokeshire coast
  • Treginnis, Summer

In Treginnis, Summer, Jill Jeffrey captures the essence of a bright summer day on the Pembrokeshire coast. Based on a sketch completed in May 2021, this painting depicts a collection of farm buildings perched on the skyline, their white roofs gleaming in the sunlight. Dark gorse bushes provide a striking contrast, while the green fields in the foreground lead the eye up toward the farm structures under a vivid, rich blue sky.

Using a combination of pastel and watercolour, Jeffrey has skilfully blended a palette dominated by greens, ultramarine blue, raw sienna, and white to bring out the warmth and vitality of the Welsh landscape. The loose, textured style highlights the play of light across the fields and buildings, evoking the serenity and richness of a summer’s day in Pembrokeshire. This unframed work, measuring 71 cm x 48 cm, is an inviting piece for any collection, capturing the timeless charm of rural landscapes bathed in natural light.
